UPDATE – The Consumer Product Safety Commission has announced a recall by 10 companies of about 501,000 self-balancing scooters – also known as hoverboards – because the lithium-ion battery packs could overheat, posing a risk of the products smoking, catching fire or exploding. Hours in the car with Dad gripping his seat and days spent in driver’s ed were worth it because the keys are now in your hands. I remember the feelings of freedom, independence and excitement when I received my license.
