UPDATE – The Consumer Product Safety Commission has announced a recall by 10 companies of about 501,000 self-balancing scooters – also known as hoverboards – because the lithium-ion battery packs could overheat, posing a risk of the products smoking, catching fire or exploding. The companies involved are listed on the CPSC website. Now that you have the keys — what does that mean?

All your hard work paid off and now you finally have your driver’s license. Hours in the car with Dad gripping his seat and days spent in driver’s ed were worth it because the keys are now in your hands. I remember the feelings of freedom, independence and excitement when I received my license. But with the look in my dad’s eyes as he handed the keys to me, I knew driving came with added responsibility.

College students, identity thieves want you

Ask most young adults about their valuables and they’ll probably note their car or their phone or their computer. They likely won’t mention their identity. “Why would anyone want my identity? I have no money and no credit.” Those are exactly the reasons identity thieves want them, especially if they’re college students and especially if their parents are paying for their living expenses.
